HOLY INNOCENTS CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Working together for a quality Catholic education
Here at Holy Innocents, we take a whole-child approach to elementary education. Teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff work together to meet the intellectual, social, behavioral, and emotional needs of each and every child we serve.
Our teachers utilize a rigorous academic curriculum following the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Students in first through heigh grade take part in the First in Math program to develop and reinforce their math, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. In addition to academics, students regularly attend art, music, technology, physical education, and library classes. Every spring the students show off their musical talents in our Spring Show.
The Catholic faith is integrated in the heart of every class. Through monthly school Masses, education for receiving the sacraments, and daily prayers we foster the virtue of our Catholic faith in each student. Our students regularly participate in service-related projects such as food drives, the Mission Fair, Operation Rice Bowl, and the Mitten Tree for Project, to give back to our community.
Student Council — Students have the opportunity to demonstrate and expand their leadership skills through the Student Council. Each grade elects one students to represent them for the school year. Eighth graders elect 4 of their peers to be Student Council Executives. With the guidance of our faculty and Executives, Student Council members help to organize and assist with a variety of events during the school year, such as the bake sale.
Yearbook Committee — Throughout the year a committee of eighth graders work to assemble the yearbook. They are actively involved in creating the layouts and selecting photos that capture highlights from the school year.
Book Club — Moderated by our librarian, Mrs. Carol Hockensmith, the Book Club meets twice a week. Students read, discuss, and create projects related to books that they are reading.
Lunch Helpers — Seventh and eighth grade students have the opportunity to serve as lunch helpers by assisting younger students during the lunch period.
Recycling Team — Sixth graders work to help the environment and keep our school campus clean.
